I have a blog post entitled "Why Thumbnail Sketching Matters" that ties in nicely with this. http://www.nathanmckinleynash.com/2009/08/why-thumbnail-sketching-matters/

Very concise and cool tips. It appears to me to be similar to mind mapping, but includes the client in the process of discovery. Does that seem about right? Thanks for sharing!

Best,
Dave

Thanks for the great post. Live sketching is indeed the best way to capture creative energy and momentum with a group of people who might otherwise be more reluctant to participate. I encourage people to get up and draw with me, both in person and online using gotomeeting. In 1-1 meetings I've also done quick sketches using the Brushes app for iPhone. Brushes is great since you can email the file later. Looking forward to your article on using Webex or Adobe Connect for live sketching.

These are great tips, Drew.

From time to time I use a light gray copic/pantone marker if I need to quickly create a structure and don't want to commit to it too soon - it serves as rough work lines.
