“A good entry point into space of flows is the office, one of its principle sites. The office as such is a relatively new phenomenon. It became an important place for work only in the second half the 19th century, long after the factory was established as the place of production and, in many ways, in a direct response to the factory…”

“Invention at Play is a highly interactive, engaging and surprising traveling exhibit that focuses on the similarities between the way children and adults play and the creative processes used by innovators in science and technology. It departs from traditional representations of inventors as extraordinary geniuses who are ‘not like us,’ to celebrate the creative skills and processes that are familiar and accessible to all people. Visitors of all ages will experience various playful habits of mind that underlie invention.”

“Aside from the SND publications, there aren’t many places to see news design happening throughout the world. Many areas of the country don’t have easy access to newspapers from around the world or even the United States. Consequently many of us are working in somewhat of a vacuum. Perfect examples of the value of seeing the work of others are the September 11 and 12 pages put up by SND and Poynter. We’re hoping to generate enough interest in the design community to have that sort of thing available continually. You can help. The more people who participate, the more useful this site will be. We welcome participation and input.”
