“I’m starting to wonder if I’ve outgrown Blogger, or if I just have creeping featuritis. Or if I need to use software I can load on my web space like greymatter. Or if what I want is my own personal Slashdot. No, it’s featuritis all right. So here are the things that my ideal blog software package/hosting service would do…”

What’s Personalization anyway? “Answer: There is a lot of information on the Internet and even on company intranets. Finding the right kind of information at the right time gets to be a daily struggle. Personalization is a means to narrow down on this flood of information. Companies that deploy personalization engines offer a service to their customers by catering to their customers needs — offering only the information that the customer is interested in, or might be interested in.”

“Thought you’d never get to see a real live naked lady? Art students get to look at the unclothed human form every day. At the Academy of Naked Lady Figure Drawing, hundreds of people are sitting comfortably behind easels and drawing boards right now, staring straight at a real live naked lady.”

“We have created this site to share our passion for the beautiful and diverse world of vintage advertising posters. Our aim is to assist those interested in learning more about the origins of the art form and the master artists by integrating information and images into a user friendly format. We wish to impress on our visitors a basic understanding of the wide range of styles and artists who have created these vintage posters. Unlike many other online poster galleries we are not just a database of posters for sale. Postershow allows the user to view both the history of the poster as well as the database side by side.”

“This site is a hopeful attempt to discuss and capture ideas that may lead to useful shared services for the information architecture community. Got a great idea that could benefit other IAs? Get the word out here and maybe you’ll find a collaborator. Want to start up an organization of IA professionals? Discuss it here and maybe it will happen.”

“As designers and developers of the web, we shape our experiences by what we add to or exclude from site development. From color schemes, icons, even to the tone of the language, every element needs to work together to create the best possible page design. A series of great web pages builds an experience of interactions where each click from a quality link builds upon the entire experience.”

Sorry for the slowdown in posting. But hey, we’re getting long in the tooth: xBlog will be two years old on Sunday, 11 Nov 2001. A quick look around shows that we’ve posted somewhere around 2,541 categorized links in the last two years. Not bad. Thank you all.

“Gijs van Hensbergen has written a terrifically stirring biography of Gaudí. The book vibrates with empathic power. Mr. van Hensbergen makes a strong case for Gaudí’s importance to contemporary architecture and urbanism. He also upholds the right of any perceptive writer to seek autobiographical meaning in artistic form. That search particularly suits the material at hand. If the book is not a substitute for a visit to Barcelona, it is still a gripping first-hand account of Gaudí’s power to melt the mind.”

XPLANEr Dan Z. made hisself a web site: “For over three generations, the name Zettwoch has been synonymous with quality. Thanks for visiting and we hope you’ll stop by again. We’ll be updating the site regularly with more cartoons, paintings, and drawings from the family vaults, including some as far back as the second world war. We’ll also be introducing new sections for inventions, whirligigs, bowling ball sculpture, and maybe a bass fishing advice column. Special exhibits in the works include a display of vintage silkscreened T-shirts for church sports teams, and raunchy cartoons drawn on the back of electricians’ schematics from the 1970s. Keep watching this space for further exciting developments!”
