“The Web Design Index, with a selection of more than 1,000 designs in various styles, is a comprehensive overview of the state of the art in web design. Enclosed is a CD-ROM containing a one-click facility to view and access the selected sites. Fun poster design links theme over at Coudal Partners today. “Before there was a web or even tv, posters were a primary vehicle for design.”

“Antarcti.ca is a pioneer in network mapping and visualization. We have applied our Visual Net technology to the Internet, creating a map of the World Wide Web. Navigating networks, such as our public map of the World Wide Web, or a corporate Intranet or Extranet, has never been more intuitive than in our context-rich, easy-to-remember, and easy-to-communicate framework for finding and sharing data. Organized in 2D maps and 3D cyberspace, the Internet is transformed into a familiar place.” Huh?!

“Jakob Nielsen doesn’t like the current state of Web design, and he isn’t afraid to say so. ‘If you are going to go and buy something on a new website, you will fail. If you go to a new website, you will not be able to use it. That’s the average user experience,’ said Nielsen, one of the four ‘usability gurus’ who make up the core of the Nielsen Group, a collective of forward-thinking tech experts that kicked off a 12-city international tour in New York on Monday.” Favorite quote: “In the future, first of all, websites will be designed by my guidelines … for the simple reason that if they don’t, they are dead.” Yikes!
