“Fading Ad Campaign is a photographic project documenting vintage mural ads on building brickfaces in New York City spanning nearly a century. It has become a metaphor for survival for me since, like myself, many of these ads have long outlived their expected life span. Although this project doesn’t deal directly with HIV/AIDS, it is no accident I’ve chosen to document such a transitory and evanescent subject. Of the hundreds of ads I’ve photographed, many have already been covered up, vandalized, or destroyed. But still many silently cling to the walls of buildings, barely noticed by the rushing passersby.”

“WebExhibits helps you find high quality exhibits on the internet. We include all subjects, from the general interest to the highly academic. Listings have brief summaries, and visitors are invited to write online reviews. We have over 500 quality links, all reviewed by our editors. This index differs from other indexes on the internet because it is focused on illustrated educational exhibits, not just references. Some of the exhibits are from large organizations like National Geographic or PBS, while others are smaller, little-known exhibits from various organizations.”

“In short, a tessellation is any repeating pattern of interlocking shapes. Tessellations are also sometimes known as tilings, but the word ’tilings’ usually refers to patterns of polygons (i.e., shapes with straight boundaries), which is a more restrictive category of repeating patterns. The definition sounds fairly simple, but the ideas involved in designing and understanding tessellations can grow very complex and interesting. This site will give you a comprehensive introduction to tessellations. It will explain the basic mathematics underlying tessellations, as well as allow you to browse through many examples of tessellations in real life. M. C. Escher and his well-known tessellations are also covered in this site.”

A searchable directory of images, visualizations and animations of the Earth. “The goal of Visible Earth is to provide a consistently updated central catalog/collection point to the superset of Earth science-related visualizations and images. These images will be useful to the interested public-at-large, as well as representatives of the media, scientists, and educators. Whether it be for personal use or for presentations, hopefully this collection and its organization will provide maximum benefit.”
