a l t = ” T E X T “

“Alt Text is an exploration of text and imagery. It is meant to be a two way interaction between the reader and writer, or reader and artist. There are regular episodes that showcase writing and presentation specifically designed for the web. …Alt Text is about expression. It is produced for a multitude of purposes, not the least of which are self expression and the need for an outlet for the sites’ various contributors.”

Learning to Use Color on Your Web Site

“We often think of a good eye for color as something innate rather than something learned. But in fact, given the proper tools, and possibly a few electrical shocks along the way, even a person who’s colorblind can pick color schemes that are pleasing to the eye. So for all you colorblind readers out there, as well as those who quit Art 101 after learning there would be no nude models involved, we’d like to review how to select colors like a pro using the fundamentals of color.”

Core Competencies in Content Management

“Is your organization ready to cope with the challenge of real-time publishing? Probably not. So basically you’re putting in lots of navigation features, and some of them are being plain ignored. Or are they? Since my boss gave me the funny look when I asked him about getting eyetracking devices, I came up with this method to find out what people actually see/look at on a webpage: I had them draw a picture of the site on a piece of paper after doing a standard usability test.”

Eternal Beta: A Resource for Web Authors

“Authoring for the World Wide Web is quite a dynamic endeavor. Information regarding the various technologies and techniques is ever-increasing, ever-changing; as the field advances, more and more is being demanded of the serious Web author. Obtaining and absorbing this information can be a daunting task, at best. Printed materials are often months behind the current trends, and more often than not they, and the assortment of on-line resources, are full of misinformation.” This site hasn’t been updated in quite a while, though…
