“HAT was established in 1976 by a small group of individuals who believed that the best of UK advertising should be preserved for posterity. As an educational research trust and a registered UK charity, its initial brief was to encourage and sponsor the study of all aspects of the growth and development of advertising. This was subsequently broadened to include the related fields of marketing, media and public relations.” Yeah? Great. Now put it online!

“The Rathkamp Matchcover Society had its beginning in May, 1939, although it was not formally conceived until September, 1941. In May of 1939, a group of enthusiastic matchcover collectors got together in New York to go to the Brooklyn Navy Yard to pick up Navy ship covers and also visit the World’s Fair to see what covers it might have.” It’s not a big display online, but what the heck.

MetaGrrrl: “As the World Wide Web becomes an increasingly legitimate publishing medium, the need for consistency, clarity, and documentation grows. Developers need to begin focusing on the issue of adding depth and long-term utility to large web sites by thoroughly documenting the design of their sites. This documentation should include why certain decisions were made, techniques used, problems encountered, solutions (or detours) found, and other information relating more to the creation of the page than to its content.”
