Challenge | Capgemini’s Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE) group supports clients who are dealing with a complex business challenges that cross multiple geographies and departments. The group takes these clients through a three-day consultative session focused on resolving the issue and emerging with a clear sense of direction and ownership. Capgemini needed a sales and marketing tool that would clearly visualize the ASE process, the type of preparatory work necessary prior to a session and a series of “WOW!” options that clients could choose to leverage for greater value and results. It was important to the group that the end product effectively communicates the various opportunities in a way that was impressive to prospects.
Action | After an initial conversation, XPLANE and Capgemini recognized an opportunity to partner in the marketing of ASE. XPLANE was a natural fit to create the needed visual communication tool and several of its deliverables — visual maps, video vignettes — were appropriate for Capgemini’s “WOW!” series. To begin the engagement XPLANE traveled to Capgemini to hold a strategic discovery session. During this time an XPLANE consultant and designer fleshed out a number of ideas relating to the communication need at hand. XPLANE’s design team followed its traditional process of creating a napkin sketch, blueprint and ultimately final render of a 3×4’ illustrated poster.
Throughout the process Capgemini’s team noted how much fun it was to work with an organization that had the same level of respect for design and graphics that they did — a rewarding experience for both parties.
Results | Since its completion, the poster has received very positive feedback from both internal and external Capgemini audiences. The piece is produced as a single frame and is up in Capgemini centers around the world, prompting interest in having it also be printed in French, German and Dutch. Ideally the piece will spawn interest amongst both Capgemini and XPLANE clients looking for a visual communication tool or consultative session to address a complex business challenge.
