Raising public awareness around energy efficiency

  • Case study: Enefgy
  • Industry: Energy
  • Solution: Launch Programs
  • Deliverables: PowerPoint presentation, interactive education tool

TO PROMOTE ITS NEW ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT TO BOTH CLIENTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC, ENEFGY LEVERAGED VISUAL THINKING TOOLS THAT COULD BE EASILY EMBRACED.

Challenge Enefgy was designing a new project to promote more efficient use of electricity by its clients, which consist primarily of corporate organizations and public institutions. The new project focused on the installation and management of permanent energy efficiency programs. In developing the project, Enefgy determined it needed to accomplish two key tasks:

  1. Explain the project in the clearest possible manner
  2. Motivate employees at the target organizations to use the service and learn more about being energy efficient

Action | XPLANE and Enefgy started with a discovery session where the teams collaborated to organize and simplify key concepts that needed communicating. Visual thinking tools and skills were an instrumental part of the consultative process and then throughout the ongoing project.

XPLANE clarified and simplified the concepts which were then finalized by the design team, making it easy for the general public to understand. After achieving complete alignment around what needed to be communicated, XPLANE developed a PowerPoint presentation that was later turned into a video, along with an interactive tool to educate users on the rational use of electricity and work and home.

Results | The compelling video and interactive tool, which are available on the Enefgy Web site, have been extremely well received by all viewers. People of all ages (8 to 70 years), backgrounds and levels of understanding around energy efficiency have embraced the message.

“We believe that the ability to transmit a message to so many different people is an important and unique asset of XPLANE. Together we achieved greater comprehension and a homologous vision of the project.“
