Hi. We’re XPLANE, the world’s leading information design company. We take complex, messy, important ideas and make them easy to understand. We work with companies like Nike, PayPal, Autodesk, Microsoft, UNICEF, and The Economist to design information graphics, YouTube videos, speaker presentations, e-learning systems, posters, card decks, iPad apps and whatever else we can think up. It’s what we do every day — it’s challenging and it’s fun.

We’re currently seeking a contract iOS Developer in our Portland studio. iOS Developers program iOS applications, presentations, interactions, and interfaces for a variety of uses that are engaging and appropriate for a variety of complex business processes and goals. You will participate as a member of an X-Team to create innovative communications for presentation. Work with top managers from Fortune 500 companies around the world to understand and illustrate complex challenges with visual solutions. Requires imaginative flair, awareness of current trends in the visual arts, working knowledge of the latest computer packages, and an understanding of material costs and time limits, all of which can impact the design.

Essential duties:

  • Development of iOS nteractive projects.
  • Program iOS applications, presentations, interactions, and interfaces for a variety of uses that are engaging and appropriate for a variety of complex business processes and goals.
  • Produce consistent, bug-free and well tested code.
  • Work collaboratively with Interaction Designers, Producers, and other team members to concept ideas for iOS projects and bring them to life.
  • Develop applications both solely and in team environments.
  • Push the work creatively and technologically while staying realistic about budget, resources, and schedules.
  • Continually learn, research and champion technology and general field advances.
  • Mentor teammates in processes and best practices.
  • Help to establish and maintain production best practices and processes.

Requirements & responsibilities:

Must have:

  • At least 5 years of experience with OS X frameworks and 2 years of iOS specific frameworks.
  • Proven Mac OSX/Obj-C development experience.
  • Intimate familiarity with Xcode.
  • Experience using OO methodologies in architecting software solutions.
  • Able to build trust within the development team by developing dependable solid code.
  • Know how to interact in a professional environment. Be able to contribute to technical discussions without being overbearing. Be able to see shades of grey instead of black or white when presented with an issue.
  • Working knowledge of Git version control.

Plus:

  • Familiarity with Eclipse and Appcelerator
  • Java programming experience
  • Windows .NET programming experience
  • C++ experience
  • Experience with “agile programming” and test-driven development
  • Working knowledge of Sproutcore
