Summary:
Hi. We’re XPLANE, the world’s leading information design company. We take complex, messy, important ideas and make them easy to understand. We work with companies like Nike, PayPal, Autodesk, Microsoft, UNICEF, and The Economist to design information graphics, YouTube videos, speaker presentations, e-learning systems, posters, card decks, iPad apps and whatever else we can think up. We’re currently seeking a contract XHTML/CSS Developer in our Portland studio. XHTML/CSS Developers

Essential responsibilities:
Hand-coding scalable W3C compliant CSS2 and 3 for a variety of platforms. The XHTML/CSS developer will work closely with designers and developers to ensure that dynamic content displays as intended. The CSS developer will also ensure that comp layout is translated accurately and that presentation effects scale both up and down gracefully. The XHTML/CSS developer ensures that markup is semantic and well organized.

Requirements & Responsibilities:

Must have:

  • Translate visual designs into completed HTML4/5 pages while adhering to design specifications and industry standards.
  • Establish and implement front-end structure and standards for specific projects.
  • Work closely with back-end developers to ensure the integrity of the UI throughout the development life cycle.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and resolve bugs where required.
  • Strong understanding of iOS web application CSS requirements including high-DPI resolution requirements
  • Expert knowledge of hand-coded HTML, XHTML, CSS, and the DOM.
  • Strong experience in developing W3C standards-based, CSS-driven, table-less layouts.
  • Solid understanding of SEO and accessibility issues as they relate to the front-end.
  • Strong graphics manipulation/optimization skills using Photoshop, Illustrator. etc.
  • Strong organizational and estimation skills.

Plus:

  • Extensive knowledge of Javascript/UI libraries and their use in implementing
  • AJAX solutions specifically with JQuery and Backbone.js
  • Expert knowledge of hand-coded Javascript.
  • Working knowledge of Git version control.
  • XMAC slider
