Summary:
Hi. We’re XPLANE, the world’s leading information design company. We take complex, messy, important ideas and make them easy to understand. We work with companies like Nike, PayPal, Autodesk, Microsoft, UNICEF, and The Economist to design information graphics, YouTube videos, speaker presentations, e-learning systems, posters, card decks, iPad apps and whatever else we can think up. It’s what we do every day — it’s challenging and it’s fun.

We’re currently seeking a contract System Administrator in our Portland studio.

Essential Responsibilities:
System Administrators are responsible for setup, configuration and maintenance of both Linux and OSX servers and related network technologies. This includes configuring, DNS, Apache, Exchange, server processes, user groups, VPN, routers, firewalls, PHP/MySQL and general troubleshooting.

Requirements & Responsibilities:

Must Have:

  • Expert knowledge of command-line Linux, Apache and OSX administration
  • Solid understanding of OOP best practices
  • Extensive IMAP, Exchange and Web Server Administration
  • Comfortable dealing with large sets of data
  • Working knowledge of Source Code Version Control (Git, SVN)
  • Working knowledge of MVC design pattern
  • Strong understanding of Wordpress and plug-in creation
