Summary:
XPLANE is seeking a contract Instructional designer who would be responsible for understanding our clients’ needs, designing effective training solutions within project budgets, leading the development team and evaluating training effectiveness, and ensuring the overall project quality and success. Duties include writing course content and providing results-focused training solutions ranging from a variety of instructor-led to web-based formats. This is a contract position.
Essential Duties:
- Analyze instructional needs, define the course requirements, manage the project through the development process, and ensure instructional integrity.
- Apply instructional design techniques and methodologies to design interactive courseware and other supporting materials to ensure an effective learning experience for a variety of corporate audiences.
- Select appropriate learning delivery methods that best represent the content, funds, resources, and learner profile for each learning event designed.
- Engage subject matter experts and business leaders to understand content and subject complexities as they apply to instructional design of new learning solutions.
- Write course design documents, learning objectives, course content, scenarios, media scripts, practice activities, and posttests.
- Build effective working relationships with SMEs to efficiently gather content information and feedback.
- Conduct Alpha and Beta tests or other course evaluations, analyze feedback with the client and SMEs, and adjust the training as needed.
- Manage projects efficiently so that tasks are completed on time and within budget, problems are anticipated or resolved quickly, and team members are clear on project requirements and schedules.
Requirements & Responsibilities:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Systems or related field preferred.
- Solid understanding of instructional design and process improvement is required.
- Excellent client communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated record of designing, writing, and developing e-learning course content.
- Must display original thinking and creativity and excel at meeting challenges with resourcefulness and innovative ideas.
- Must enjoy working with teams in a fast paced, energetic environment.

Visualization Ability – Ability to present information and data in a visual format. Expertise in composition and finding unique ways to express things visually. A solid knowledge of typography and color. The ability to sketch roughs and draw refined finals.
Creativity & Innovation – Develops new ideas and unique and novel solutions to problems. Develops, sponsors, or supports the introduction of new and improved methods, products, procedures, or technologies.
Training & Development – Influences the acquisition of knowledge, sharpening of skills, concepts, rules, or changing of attitudes and behaviors to enhance the performance of employees.
Organization & Planning – Establishes a course of action for self or others to accomplish a specific goal. Takes a methodical approach to planning and guiding project processes and resources from start to finish.
Analytical Ability – Ability to review, analyze, and synthesize information in order to make it more easily understood and recommend a specific course of action. Comprehend complex business issues. Demonstrate ability to quickly discern clients’ needs and core values.
